The Travel Institute Expands Destination Offerings with New Italy Courses

Premium members enjoy both for free as part of enhanced benefits package

FRAMINGHAM, MA, August 13, 2015 — The Travel Institute today announced the official launch of two new destination specialist (DS) courses: Northern and Central Italy and Southern Italy and the Islands. The additions bring the total number of DS courses to 12 from The Travel Institute.

Rather than combining the extensive destination curriculum into one course, The Travel Institute strategically broke the content into two modules to make the information more manageable, according to Pat Gagnon, CTC, The Institute’s director of program development.

“The amount of insider information we had developed for Italy was beyond what could effectively be contained, and more importantly retained, in just one course,” said Gagnon. “Breaking the content into two allowed us to include a lot of insider information that will make our participants true experts of this perennial favorite vacation destination.”

DS Northern and Central Italy covers the northwest regions of Piedmont and Valle d’Aosta and territory south to Lazio (the Capitol Region). DS Southern Italy and the Islands covers the area extending from Abruzzo, Molise, and Puglia south and to the islands of Sicily and Sardinia. Both courses explain the uniqueness of each region by exploring the major cities, attractions, culture, geography, transportation, and specialties of each area. “Did You Know” sidebars and “Checking Your Understanding” quizzes throughout intensify the learning, as do sales sections at the end of each course.

Each curriculum is available in two formats: online ($54) and in print ($84, plus shipping), and each is worth 10 CEUs for all CTAs, CTCs, or CTIEs taking the new courses. Sponsors of the DS Italy series are IC Bellagio, Insight Vacations, Trafalgar Tours, and Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection.

Other DS Specialist courses from The Travel Institute include Alaska, Caribbean, France, Hawaii, India, Mexico, North America, Saint Lucia, Southern Europe, and Spain. Premium members currently have free access to the online versions of DS Northern and Central Italy, DS Southern Italy and the Islands (in September), Alaska, Caribbean, and Hawaii, with additional complimentary courses available in the months ahead.
