The Travel Institute Upgrades CTC & CTIE Courses; Offers 50% Scholarships in July

FRAMINGHAM, MA, July 7, 2015 – The Travel Institute today announced it has totally rebuilt two of its signature products – Certified Travel Counselor (CTC) and Certified Travel Industry Executive (CTIE) – and migrated the curriculums to a new online learning platform. To commemorate the innovative “virtual university” environment, the organization is offering certification scholarships valued at 50 percent off standard curriculum pricing throughout its “Promote Your Professionalism” month in July.

“We felt this was the perfect time to launch the enhanced learning curriculums as part of our 2nd annual Promote Your Professionalism campaign when we’re on many people’s radar,” said Chief Operating Officer Diane Petras, CMP, CTIE. “Then, to couple it with these scholarships fully funded by The Travel Institute, we feel that we’re making it even more convenient and affordable to earn that elite industry status. In the first few days we received nearly 100 scholarship applications, so we’re thrilled people are taking advantage of the opportunity.”

In order to be considered for the 50-percent savings for the CTA, CTC, and CTIE curriculums, scholarship applicants must answer two questions related to promoting their professionalism. Scholarships are only offered once a year in July. Applicants may also tap into The Travel Institute’s convenient payment plan, in addition to the scholarship savings. Details are available on The Travel Institute’s rebuilt website at www.thetravelinstitute.com.

The new CTC curriculum includes 10 core courses ranging in topic from project management and presentation skills to negotiating and coaching skills. The CTIE curriculum includes 10 core courses ranging in topic from strategic and transformational leadership to creativity and coping with change. The new material for both curriculums was selected due to its industry relevance and approach to real-world challenges and solutions.

The new online versions are based on a series of engaging learning videos supported by an e-library of related materials for downloading, including course summaries and industry white papers.

“Our new virtual platform significantly enhances the breadth and depth of one’s learning capabilities,” said Pat Gagnon, CTC, director of program development. “The early feedback we’re getting tells us that participants like the engagement, pace, and learning outcomes from this vibrant online platform.”

Features include:

  • A short introduction video walks users through the course as well as the navigation.
  • The dashboard presents the CTC and CTIE core courses in an easy-to-follow format, complete with a brief description and number of respective modules.
  • Each module wraps up with a quiz to help measure the learnings gained.
  • A comments section appears at the end of every module, providing helpful user feedback.
  • A green progress wheel displays where a user stands in completing each module and course.
  • The message section allows users to contact The Travel Institute with questions.
  • The profile section contains a history of the courses taken, plus exam scores.

In addition to the new CTC and CTIE curriculums, the Certified Travel Associate (CTA) course is now available online as well as in the traditional print version.

A series of free informational webinars about the upgraded CTA, CTC, and CTIE courses is being offered in July. Details are available at www.thetravelinstitute.com.
