The Travel Institute Expands its ‘Market Intelligence’ with Five New Trustees

FRAMINGHAM, MA, April 20, 2016 – The Travel Institute today officially welcomed five new members to its Board of Trustees. The appointees represent a microcosm of the travel industry – from supplier and host agency to travel education, database management, and retail travel, according to The Travel Institute’s Chairman of the Board Brian Robb, CTIE, principal at The Robb Aspect and former senior vice president at the Mark Travel Corporation.

Knowing that a strong and engaged board of trustees can play a significant role in its success, The Travel Institute has assembled a diverse group of industry executives tasked with helping steer the right course for this leading non-profit organization. The new trustees are:

  • Terry Berggren – director of client experience, RUF Strategic Solutions
  • Laurie Bohn – director of national sales and training, Royal Caribbean Cruises
  • Jackie Friedman, CTIE – president, Nexion
  • Sheri Selkirk, CTA – vice president of hosting programs, Brownell Travel
  • Debbie Wilson, CTA – professor and department chair, Los Medanos College

“Travel distribution and the role of the travel counselor are continually changing, as are the needs of travel specialists and industry leaders,” said Robb. “For The Travel Institute to stay at the forefront of travel education – as we’ve done for the last 50+ years – we need to make sure our products and services evolve as well. In addition to Robb, rounding out The Travel Institute Board of Trustees are members of the executive committee: Scott Ahlsmith, CTC – technical strategist (past chair); Jack Mannix, CTC – president, Mannix & Associates (immediate past chair); Gary Pollard, CTC – president, Ambassador Tours (current vice chair); and Horst Schulze – CEO, Capella Hotel Group.
