FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Travel Institute Launches ‘Preparing for a Travel Career’ Month in February

FRAMINGHAM, MA, January 13 – The Travel Institute today announced details of its new month-long promotion, “Preparing for a Travel Career,” kicking it off with the webinar, “Getting Started … Preparing for a Career in Travel” on February 4. Free to all participants, the February campaign is designed to help individuals who are considering a future in travel gain insight into the industry and to help newcomers make the most of their careers in travel.

Among the career-focused activities planned in February: a series of four webinars, weekly ebooks, and twice-weekly themed communications of The Travel Institute’s popular Hot Tip Tuesday newsletter and Friday Five blog posts.

“For the last year or so, our monthly ‘New to the Industry’ webinars have often been sold out, attracting more than 100 participants in a session,” said Pat Gagnon, CTC, director of program development for The Travel Institute. “With that strong interest, we knew there was a real need to provide this audience with the nuts and bolts of how to succeed in the travel business.

“‘Preparing for a Travel Career’ does just that – and more. Through the webinars and communication materials, we’re connecting newcomers to some of our industry’s most accomplished and well-known experts who are eager to share their knowledge and experience. And, we’ve made sure we’re addressing real-life questions such as what’s it really like to work from home, how to achieve work-life balance, and what’s it take to be successful in the world of travel.”

Preparing for a Travel Career is totally free of charge and open to everyone in the industry. And, except for the Friday Five blog post, membership in The Travel Institute or certification/designations from the organization is not required to participate.

The webinars range in length from approximately 30 minutes to one hour, depending on the question-and-answer period offered at the end of each session. Advanced registration is required and space is limited to the first 100 attendees. Travel Institute members will have free access to the archived sessions. The schedule is as follows:

  • February 4, 1 p.m. EST – “Getting Started … Preparing for a Career in Travel” with Patty Noonan, CTC
  • February 10, 1 p.m. EST – “Become the Exception” with Mike Marchev, CTC
  • February 20, 1 p.m. EST – “Facing the New World of Competition in the Travel Business” with Carol Parsons
  • February 23, Noon EST – “Can I Be Balanced, Successful and Home-Based?” with Mary Pat Sullivan, CTC, and Joanie Ogg, CTC
Other activities during the Preparing for a Travel Career promotion in February include:

Ebooks: Each week, a 10- to 20-page ebook with career-related tips, articles, and blogs will be emailed to all Hot Tip Tuesday subscribers. The lead-off ebook is scheduled for February 6 and will feature helpful advice on such topics as job skills, industry overview, finding your passion at work, and building a LinkedIn profile.

Expert advice: As part of its ongoing communications, professionals can sign up for the weekly Hot Tip Tuesday enewsletter written by industry and business experts. Each issue in February will have a career focus. And, for members only, each week The Travel Institute’s popular Friday Five blog posts will feature one of its professional educators who will provide additional ways to make the most out of a career in travel.
