Home Based Forum Expands Program with New Las Vegas Hotel Site Inspections and Pre-Show Training Sessions in Early May; $99 suite rate ok at Venetian
New Frills Enhance Home Based Forum

Several provocative new bells and whistles have been added to the program of the approaching “Home Based Travel Agent Forum” in Las Vegas May 2-4 at the luxurious Venetian Resort Hotel and Casino, according to Jim Cloonan, president of the Travel Show Marketing Group (TSMG) which produces this much-acclaimed event.  Cloonan added that the conference program, with few exceptions, is now virtually complete and that it represents an unparalleled opportunity for travel agents to expand their earning potential.
Among the additions to the program taking shape as I write are the following:

  • The MGM Grand family of hotels is putting together a post-show FAM to feature site inspections of two new properties that are generating a great deal of consumer and trade attention namely the Aria and Vdara.  Space is limited and agents will be enrolled on a first-come-first-served basis.   Details to follow shortly.
  • On Sunday afternoon, May 1, two concurrent pre-show training sessions have been scheduled by the Hawaii Visitors & Convention Bureau, and Sandals Resorts, Beaches Resorts, and Grand Pineapple Beach Resorts.

Meanwhile, as pre-registration for US and Canadian travel agents passed the one thousandth bench mark, Cloonan invited both travel agents and suppliers to monitor the final touches of the conference program by visiting http://www.lvtravelshow.com.  He said that the three-day event promises to be both highly productive and highly entertaining citing more than two dozen seminars and panels, the always valued accredited training by CLIA and the Outside Sales Support Network (OSSN), the prominent  keynote speakers at the opening session Monday morning May 2, and the next morning at the General Session, as well as the cluster of ground-breaking new educational agent tracks.

As for entertainment, the Monday evening activities include the choice of three record-breaking transplants from Broadway, including Jersey Boys, The Phantom of the Opera, and the Blue Man Group.  Prior to the theatrical blockbuster there’s a dine around sponsored by The Grand Canal at the Venetian, The Shoppes at The Palazzo and The Fashion Show.  Then there’s a gala evening on Tuesday, underwritten by the host, Venetian Resort, which is famous for the quality and scope of its receptions.  You’ll also enjoy a Tuesday morning breakfast hosted by Viking River Cruises with a chance to win one of 10 cruises, and lunch that day sponsored Sandals & Beaches Resorts International.

As we reported earlier, there’s also a powerful new three hour seminar on Wednesday afternoon, which will focus on social networking, sales and marketing.  Really not to be missed.  Featured are five of the industry’s most accomplished innovators, including:  Scott Koepf, VP Sales, Avoya Travel / America's Vacation Center; Richard B. Earls, Publisher, Travel Research Online; Matt Bray, Director of Marketing, Recommend Magazine; Cory Andrichuk, President, brandUcoaching; Keith Powell, Business Revivalist & Travel Industry Marketing Guru.
At this juncture, Cloonan introduced some other points that have been added to the mix including the fact that the trade show itself, the centerpiece of the program, is scheduled in such a way that no other activities intrude on the hours set aside for suppliers to interface one-on-one with the travel agents.  The full schedule of events can be found at http://www.lvtravelshow.com/schedule.aspx including trade show hours.

Cloonan also pointed out that although the Home Based Forum is the official tradeshow and conference for OSSN, all travel agents are welcome to attend this all-embracing business development opportunity.  OSSN is the Forum’s major partner and its founder and president Gary Fee hosts both the general session and the always popular cruise panel on Tuesday afternoon.  More than half a dozen provocative seminars and panels are provided by OSSN and its executives.

And then, of course, there are the prizes. For example, travel agents who sign up now are eligible to win a trip to Hawaii for two, for seven full nights at the luxurious Westin Maui hotel.  Then there are the dozens of attractive prizes which will be drawn at the conclusion of the tradeshow on early Wednesday afternoon at a proximately 12:15pm.  You can review the prizes, as the selection grows, by logging on to http://www.lvtravelshow.com/prizetours.aspx.  You’ve got to be there to win!

Then there’s that fabulous $99 suite rate at the Venetian, which may not last much longer, and represents an offer that you won’t want to miss.  You can make your hotel registrations thru the show website,  http://www.lvtravelshow.com/hotel.aspx.  Make sure you have that suite ASAP.  All this and more is available for the incredible price of $60 when using TRO registration code 3025 which represents a twenty dollar saving from the $80 rack rate.  Register now by going to http://www.lvtravelshow.com/register.aspx

Suppliers who wish to acquire a booth, or to get first-hand information about available sponsorships, may do so by contacting Jim Cloonan at (617)337-5132, or by email at jim@travelsmg.com.
We’ll see you in May at the Venetian!
