FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Alexander+Roberts unveils a new 16-guest adventure to Ethiopia
With special photography + festival departures

July 14, 2015 – Keene, NH – Long respected for its carefully-crafted journeys to exciting and emerging destinations, Alexander+Roberts has premiered Adventures in Ethiopia, a new 12-day journey for 2016-2017. This foray into Ethiopia coincides with the European Council on Tourism and Trade’s recent selection of Ethiopia as the Best Travel Destination in the World for 2015. In its July 4 announcement, this non-profit group of European Union tourism trade organizations cited the country’s “excellent preservation of humanity landmarks” including the medieval churches of Lalibela, the Konso Highlands and the Lower Omo Valley – three UNESCO World Heritage Sites featured in Alexander+Roberts new adventure.

Led by the company’s experienced Ethiopian Trip Leader, Alexander+Roberts unique expedition begins in Addis Ababa and continues with unhurried exploration of Lalibela’s ancient rock-hewn churches. The trip is highlighted by six full days in southern Ethiopia including Lake Chamo, both the eastern and western shores of the Omo River and the Konso Highlands. This well-paced itinerary affords more time in the scattered towns, villages and markets of the region and deeper engagement with diverse tribal groups like the Mursi, Dorze, Dassanech, Karo and Hamer tribes.

A photography adventure with Scott Davis
In September 2016, an exclusive departure of Adventures in Ethiopia will be accompanied by Scott Davis, a noted National Geographic Society grantee, wildlife researcher and professional travel photographer. A frequent visitor to Ethiopia and other Alexander+Roberts destinations, the company has enjoyed a long professional collaboration with Mr. Davis. Now, aspiring and established photographers alike will be able to benefit from Scott’s unique insights and extensive experience – returning from Ethiopia with powerful and thought-provoking images that tell evocative stories of the land and its people.

In addition to this one-time photography adventure, Alexander+Roberts will offer other exclusive departures scheduled around three of Ethiopia’s most evocative celebrations. Celebrated in early January according to the Gregorian calendar, the Christmas season draws thousands of traditionally-clad pilgrims who come as they have in centuries past to celebrate the season in Lalibela’s ancient cave churches. With departures in both 2016 and 2017, guests will have a unique opportunity to experience this spiritually and culturally evocative event.

Additional festival departures are scheduled to immerse guests in the lively cultural traditions of the Orthodox Easter in April and the Festival of 1,000 Stars, a gathering of both desert and highland tribes who come together to share their ceremonial dances and songs.

$600 client savings + $100 agent bonuses
Priced from $5,699, Adventures in Ethiopia is limited to 16 guests per departure and includes comprehensive sightseeing, carefully selected hotels, 33 meals, airport transfers, and all on-tour transportation and internal flights.
