TAP is Europe's leading airline to Africa and to South America

The Portuguese Airline and its Inflight Magazine won three World Travel Awards, the “Oscars” of World Tourism


TAP was voted the Europe’s Leading Airline to Africa and Europe’s Leading Airline for South America and its Inflight Magazine, UP, has won the first prize for Europe’s Leading Inflight Magazine at the latest World Travel Awards Gala Ceremony. The event, considered the "Oscars" of world tourism, was held yesterday at the Russian Museum of Ethnography, in St. Petersburg.

 

Launched in 1993, the World Travel Awards were created with the aim of acknowledging, rewarding and celebrating the pursuit of excellence in all travel and tourism industry sectors across the globe. Voted among some of the best known airlines worldwide, TAP’s election resulted from an online voting process, mainly by trade professionals in travel and tourism around the world, such as travel agents, operators and tourism organizations from more than 100 countries and by the general public as well.


The trophies now won by TAP join those already collected in the World Travel Awards’ previous editions, such as the WTA Europe’s Leading Airline to both Africa and South America in 2014, 2015 and 2016, the World's Leading Airline to Africa in 2011 and 2012 and also the title of World's Leading Airline to South America in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012, along with the UP magazine, also celebrated as Europe’s Leading Inflight Magazine both in 2015 and 2016.

Portugal Stopover winner in Berlin

 

TAP’s programme was awarded at the Digital Communication Awards, in the Product Launch category.

 

Of a total of 750 applications to this award, TAP’s was initially shortlisted with five other finalist projects, and won in the Product Launch category, after a live pitch in front of a jury of highly renowned experts in digital communication, coming from both academic and entrepreneurial backgrounds, who assessed the levels of strategy, innovation and creativity, implementation, results and efficiency.

 

The Digital Communications Awards were launched in 2011, by the Quadriga University of Applied Sciences, to honor outstanding projects, campaigns and innovations in the field of online communications.

 

This is the second time TAP wins a DCA, this time in a joint application with the Portuguese creative agency Fullsix – who was in charge of the product’s campaign, image and communication. In 2015, TAP won with its Destinations microsite, in the Best Microsite category.

 

The Portugal Stopover programme, launched in July 2016, allows with layovers in Lisbon or Porto can stay in Portugal, now up to five nights, with no extra costs. Since its launch in summer 2016 until the end of last July, almost 70 thousand passengers have already made the most of this offer provided by the Airline.
