This week, I wi ll be attending the Destination Britain Americas travel trade event in Mexico. The three-day event has been organized by VisitBritain to bring British travel suppliers to the Americas to meet with the markets of the U.S., Canada and Brazil. The event is being held in Riviera Maya, Mexico. For me this is no routine business event. I’m really fired up about this one.
VisitBritain is bringing 53 choice travel suppliers to converge with 47 top buyers in the Americas. The British suppliers include hotels and accommodations, attractions and experience operators, transport providers, retailers, tour and sightseeing companies and destination marketing organizations from across England, Scotland and Wales.

Landslide in Norway Closes the Main Highway to the Fjords

A major landslide has closed Norway’s main road and railway and shifted traffic through Sweden.
A section of Norway’s E6 highway collapsed near Nesvatnet in Levanger, taking out both lanes of the highway, the alternative road, and the intercity railway line.
The E6 is the country’s most important north–south road, carrying commuters, tourists and freight more than 1,600 miles from southern Sweden to Kirkenes in Norway’s far north—The closure means long detours for tourists planning to drive the scenic Kystriksveien coastal road, or visit the fjords, the Lofoten Islands, or Tromsø and the North Cape.
