March Sales Dip for Some, Not for Others. What’s a Travel Advisor To Do?

Never a dull moment in the travel industry. On the one hand, we’re coming off an all-time record year, with pent-up demand and higher-than-ever consumer confidence in the ability of travel advisors to make our vacations better. But then again, the market is crashing; layoffs are spreading; anti-American sentiment is growing. Four major airlines—Delta, American, Southwest, and JetBlue—have cut their outlooks for early 2025, citing softer demand and lower consumer confidence. Delta CEO Ed Bastian said “consumer spending started to stall” and American noted “softness in the domestic leisure segment, primarily in March.”
