Roe v. Wade
On January 22, 1973, the United States Supreme Court issued its opinion in the controversial landmark case of Roe v. Wade. The opinion, written by Justice Harry Blackmun, struck down state laws that made most abortions illegal. The opinion held that a woman could terminate a pregnancy until such time as a fetus became "viable". The opinion based much of its reasoning a a woman's "right to privacy" - a right not mentioned in the Constitution by which the Court derived as a logical conclusion from other explicit rights. These predators primarily target unwitting breaches where images, music, or text have been used without proper permission or license. Once they've found a potential infringement, they swiftly send out legal threats or demands for licensing fees, often exorbitant in nature, preying on the fear of costly litigation to compel a quick settlement.

As Long as We Are Telling the Truth…
If I got one thing straight during my eight years of sitting in front of the nuns of Notre Dame back in the fifties and early sixties, it was that all things considered, telling the truth was the right thing to do. Quizzes, tests, and exams were built around the concept. (True or false?) Overnight sleepovers featured the popular game. (Truth of Dare?) We were taught early on (via fictitious stories) that, if you didn’t tell the truth, your nose would grow. (God rest his soul, but if this was indeed the case, my father-in-law was a liar of epic proportion.)
