Alaska Airlines announced on Tuesday it's launching an electronic bag tag program later this year, the first U.S. airline to do so.
"This technology allows our guests to tag their own bags in just seconds and makes the entire check-in process almost all off-airport," said Charu Jain, senior vice-president of merchandising and innovation for Alaska Airlines. United Airlines Announces Return to Profitability

United Airlines (UAL) yesterday reported second-quarter 2022 financial results. The company achieved the highest second-quarter revenue in its history, delivering its first profitable quarter since COVID-19 began, despite record-high fuel prices.
For the quarter, the company saw operating revenue up 6 percent versus the same quarter in 2019 and expects to see sequential improvement in the third quarter. The company also had record-setting TRASM (Total Revenue Per Available Seat Mile), up 24 percent versus the same quarter in 2019, and expects 24 to 26 percent improvement in the third quarter over third quarter 2019. Once again, the ASTA Mid-Michigan annual supplier event was a great success. This year the event was held at the Detroit Yacht Club. The annual event, hosted by the Mid-Michigan Small Business Network, is always a themed event, and for the past four years, the theme has been "Christmas in July." The event started as a fundraiser for ASTA Pac and a community giveback program for foster children where warm items such as hats, gloves, socks, pillows, and blankets were collected and distributed to the children during the holiday season. This year we changed the theme to "Jingle in July" since we could all use a little more change in our pockets!
