From Fields of Wildflowers to Viking History, You Need to Experience Greenland in the Summer
For three months out of the year along the fjords of southern Greenland, the frozen landscape thaws, the sea ice retreats and you can see why Erik the Red got away with calling the country at the top of the world “Greenland” – instead of Narnia. I visited in June, traveling up the Tunulliarfik Fjord with Vintage Air Rally during an arctic expedition, and found fields of wild flowers three feet high covering the hills…

Why Tunis could be the new Rome
The wait for admission to the Colosseum was approximately three and a half hours. The queue was so long that I initially mistook it for the line leading into the Palatine Hill, as I couldn’t even see the Colosseum when I joined the end of it. It was pouring rain and bitter cold in the middle of May, yet scores of soggy tourists were huddled alongside me in technicolour rain ponchos waiting for the chance to pay…

How Do I Avoid Using All My Vacation Days on Other People's Weddings?
I’m not sure how it happened but I’m turning thirty next year, and I still have a few things I want to accomplish as a personal “30 before 30” challenge, if you will. I've been dreaming of a solo trip since I graduated from college, but I haven’t made it happen yet. (And I want it to be bigger than a weekend away, meaning it probably won’t be cheap.) My only concern is that I'll also be attending six friends'…

The Liberation of Auschwitz
On January 27, 1945, the Soviet Army arrived at Auschwitz and opened the camp, freeing 7,000 prisoners. Another 58,000 had been marched out of the camp before the Soviet Army arrived in a "death march", with very few surviving until the end of the journey. The Nazis at the camp also attempted to cover their crimes…

Are emails sucking the life out of your productivity?
by John Frenaye Monday January 27, 2020
I recently hear d that the average worker in the US receives more than 100 emails in a single day. Let’s expand that. 700 a week. 36,400 per year! And I might venture to say with all the promotional emails we receive from preferred suppliers, trade associations, and trade publications, we are closer to 200 per day. How do you handle it all? If you are like me, not as well as you should. I was at a networking event a few weeks ago talking about this. Here are my 7 takeaways!
Treat your email like any other task. Schedule a time to do it. It might be 10 minutes 3 times a day or an hour first thing in the morning over a cup of coffee.…

Planning a 2020 Perspective
by Richard Earls Sunday January 26, 2020
“To change ourselves effectively, we first must change our perceptions.” ~ Stephen R. Covey
The beginning of a year inherently is a time of transition, a good time to assay our perspective. Each of us has just spent another year in our business and personal lives moving forward, back, laterally and standing still in turn. Hopefully we have progressed a bit on whatever journey we earlier set ourselves and feel as though our time has been well invested. Inevitably, however, we have our regrets, things we now want to do differently, take more chances or perhaps fewer depending on circumstance.
However we gauge success, the best of us tend to be our most harsh critic. If your…

Attitude Adjustment: Part 5, Not Seeking Success For Your Clients
by Mike Marchev Monday January 27, 2020
No truer words have ever been spoken than the sort phrase, “Talk is cheap.” There is not a business, still in business today, that does not profess that they provide superior customer service. I often have to remind these very same businesses that “it isn’t wise to bite the hand that feeds you,” and that “customers are your only source of revenue.” The truth is that nobody seems to be paying attention to me, or these cogent reminders. Service today, if I may candy-coat it, stinks and there are no signs that it is going to get any better.
Let’s look at this “service” thing from a slightly different angle.
If you want to get to the top of the sales profession, you have to start focusing…
