The Dutch windmill making artisanal bread
When most of us think of Dutch windmills, we picture quaint structures sprinkled across the pastoral plains that whimsically spin in the breeze. In reality, most of these mechanical mills pumped water, ground grain and were once run by passionate and skilled millers in the 18th Century. Now, though, millers at Kijkduin Windmill in the Dutch province of North Holland are bringing new life and love to…

The Moselle: Europe’s Most Beautiful River – At Least During The Fall
One big surprise during my cruise on Crystal Bach was the Moselle. It wasn’t my first time on the river, but the weather and the time of year conspired to make the Moselle Europe’s most beautiful river – at least in my view.
On Crystal Bach, we cruised from Amsterdam along with sister ship Crystal Debussy. In Koblenz, Crystal Bach docked with its nose pointed up the Moselle, while Debussy docked in the direction of the Rhine. We each departed, and after a few hours of sailing, my feeling was that we got the better end of the bargain.
The Moselle gave the impression that we were sailing through a gorge, flanked by vineyards running up steep slopes. We docked in fairytale villages, such as Bernkastel and…

It Is Your Business, Do Something About It
There is a thin line between “customer service” and being a doormat. Remember, you can’t be all things to all people.
If there is one common refrain I hear (and if I’ve heard it once I’ve heard it a hundred times), it is:
Potential clients contact me to milk me for information before they head out to book their own vacation on the…

Hungary – The Wellspring of Wonders
Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at 1 pm EST/10 am PST
Hidden in the centre of Europe is a country where water roils under the earth and erupts to the surface, hot and healing. A country, where you can refresh your body and mind by relaxing in the hot water of genuine medieval Turkish baths, both in the summer and winter. Where you can always find something historic or modern that touches your soul, and the atmosphere is vibrant and relaxing at the same time. Where the ”aszú” grape berries are harvested during autumn, from which beautifully balanced “gold wine” is produced. Where on hilltops, deep in the valleys and on endless plains, you find the hustle of small, centuries-old villages, charming towns, luxurious castles and a lively metropolis.
