Visit Britain's recent announcement about a global campaign focusing on unexpected experiences and less-explored destinations has given me a lot to think about.  Including places on and off the beaten track are hall marks of the tours I customise for independent travellers and groups and in this small island of ours, you don’t have to travel far to find them. Everyone is anticipating the launch of the new Celebrity Edge this fall, and Celebrity Cruises is keeping the excitement stoked by releasing new information over time, and not all at once.  The most recent announcement this week was about the new culinary features that will be found on-board the Celebrity Edge.

First up, main dining.  According to Celebrity’s announcement this week, they are re-imagining on-board dining on the Celebrity Edge:  “To keep your guests excited, we've created FOUR complimentary main restaurants: Cyprus Restaurant, Normandie Restaurant, Cosmopolitan Restaurant, and Tuscan Restaurant. Ocean cruisers who have been reluctant to river cruise because of the ship’s cozy confines (read: small cabins) may find that a new river cruise ship due out in 2019 to be the perfect fit. When AmaWaterways’ AmaMagna debuts in 2019, she’ll be twice the width of traditional river ships. That extended width puts her in another league altogether.
