Cape Town needs no sales pitch. Taking a gin journey to taste the authentic spirit of London
I’m rushing up London’s Portobello Road on a Friday afternoon in spring, dodging shoppers and strollers as I zig-zag from sidewalk to road and back again hunting for a bar. The Portobello Star is the latest in a long line of alcohol-serving establishments situated in the same building since 1740…

No, I am not talking about some French delicacy. If that’s your thing—enjoy! Today, I want to talk about motivation. For me, summers are slow. Dreadfully slow. My motivation to get up is near zero at times; and to tackle a project… well you can imagine. But I have adopted a “swallow the frog” mentality and it seems to be working for me!
Swallow the frog? In the most simple terms… do the most distasteful thing on your to-do list first. Get it out of the way, and chances are that the rest of your day will go better.

The pretexts we give for our failures to act as we should or do as we might, however, are some of the most serious obstacles we encounter on the way to being what we most want to be and having what we most deserve in our travel practices.
The most impressive quality of an excuse is our absolute willingness to believe it when we know better. We chant our excuses frequently and ardently enough to turn them to reality. Suddenly, we really don't…
